Opened in July 2018, the new Morukuru Beach Lodge, part of the South African hotel collection Morukuru Family, is located on one of Africa's most beautiful coastal natural reserves on Koppie Alleen in the De Hoop Nature Reserve on South Africa's famous Garden Route and is just three hours' drive or a short flight from Cape Town. Typical Cape fynbos vegetation to one side and, on the other, perfect tall white sand dunes and the rolling blue Indian Ocean.
The lodge is at the end of the ‘Whale Trail’ in a marine protected area that stretches three miles off the coast, and just below the hotel is one of the best shore-based whale watching spots in the world (southern right whales are almost constantly here from July to October). Furnished by the Dutch designer Janine Butter, here you will find a mix of spacious Scandi with a touch of Africa and a dash of New York loft trend. Morukuru Beach Lodge consists of 4 luxurious Ocean View Suites and 1 Dune View Suite overlooking the Indian Ocean and the surrounding sand dunes. The suites are comfortably furnished and all have en-suite bathrooms with level-access rain shower and bathtub, as well as a large sofa bed, a private terrace and outdoor seating. In addition, guests can relax during the day in the magnificent pool with sea view, in the Jacuzzi, in the sheltered courtyard or on the rooftop terrace on the first floor.
The main area of the lodge features a restaurant, bar and lounge. Morukuru Beach Lodge, unlike Ocean House, operates as a lodge (not exclusive-use only). Rooms at Morukuru Beach Lodge can be booked individually which makes this ideal for couples travelling, or smaller families.
